Bio

With a tactile sensibility rooted in handcraft traditions and a mind intent on surfacing things often overlooked, Natalie Thedford’s highly textured compositions reward those who slow down to get a closer look. Thedford holds an MFA in Studio Practices with a focus in Ceramics from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a BFA in 3D Art from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She relies heavily on the handcraft traditions that surrounded her and the slower paced experiences she enjoyed growing up in East Tennessee. She was selected as a 2025 Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly and she has had the privilege of being a resident artist at CRETA Rome, in Italy as well as the Vermont Studio Center.
